Express Entry

Express entry is an online system for skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
There are three programs under Express Entry:

• Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) is for skilled workers that have foreign work experience of at least 1 continuous year in the past 10 years.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for skilled workers that have at least 1 year of Canadian work experience in the past 3 years while being authorised to work.
Federal Skilled Trade (FST) is for skilled workers who have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade in the past 5 years. You must have a qualification to work in your specific occupation.

How does Express Entry work?
Based on your eligibility, an online profile known as an Expression of interest (EOI) is submitted under one of above mentioned Express entry programs. Each candidate’s profile is ranked based on a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Candidates with a score above the cut-off set by IRCC, are sent an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Those receiving an ITA must submit a complete permanent residence application within a specified period of 60 days.

CRS score is based on the following criteria:

• Age
• Highest level of education
• Language ability
• Work experience
• Adaptability
• Arranged employment in Canada

If you are married, the profile of your spouse also affects your score, if your spouse will be immigrating with you to Canada.
